Milton Arts Guild is accepting registrations for its Summer Students’ Program, offering four classes for young people 9-12 years old and one class for students 13-18 years old, to be held at Studios on Walnut, 310 Walnut St., Milton.

Class include fabric painting, macrame, acrylic painting, watercolor painting and charcoal sketching.

Classes for youngsters 9-12 years old will be taught from 1:30 to 3 p.m. each Tuesday in July.

In Fabric Painted Design on Bag, July 5, award-winning artist Barbara Coffin will lead students in painting a vibrant design on a canvas bag. Coffin taught art in middle and high schools for 32 years and was named Outstanding Art Educator by the Maryland Art Educators Association.

During Macrame with Beads, July 12, art instructor Catherine Flaherty will teach students how to weave beads into their knotted macrame creations. Flaherty has taught art for more than 20 years, and is a professional face painter and airbrush artist.

In Acrylic Painting on 8x8 Canvas, July 19, Milton Arts Guild’s Jeff Crawford, who is responsible for arranging and hanging all artwork for gallery exhibitions, will walk kids through using acrylic paints to create a final piece of artwork.

Watercolor Solar System, July 26, also taught by Flaherty, will have students paint their own solar system using watercolors.

In the class for students 13-18 years old, Flaherty will lead participants in creating their own charcoal sketches from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 2.

Each class costs $15. For 9-12-year-olds who register for all four classes, the total cost is $50. To register, go to miltonartsguild.org.
